Warm Their Hearts with this DIY Gift!
Written by Gayle
The holiday season is upon us, and I am on the lookout for great gift-giving ideas. As I strolled through the aisles of my local Lassen’s I hit upon this idea: My own herbal tea blends and tea-making gadgets!
So after I picked up some tea gadgets — a heart-shaped tea ball, and one with a spring mechanism — I went to the bulk herb section, and selected some tasty herbs. This morning I mixed up some of my favorites, scooped them into a decorative jar (this one an up-cycled candle jar), added a ribbon and a label, and voila! A simple and fun gift! Maybe I’ll stop by the thrift store for some fun tea cups to complete the gift!
Mix the herbs well before placing in the decorative gift jar |
You can use your imagination to make your own special blends, but here are some tasty and healthy combinations that you can try:
Female Soothing
- 3/4 cup dried peppermint leaf
- 1/2 cup dried raspberry leaf
- 1/2 cup dried nettle leaf
Tummy Tonic
- 3/4 cup dried peppermint leaf
- 1/2 cup dried fennel leaf
- 1 tsp dried ginger
Savory Blend
- 3/4 cup dried lemongrass
- 1/4 cup dried rosemary
- 1/4 cup dried licorice root
Rosehips Relaxer
- 3/4 cup dried rose hips
- 1/2 cup dried peppermint leaves
This spring-loaded tea ball keeps the herbs contained! |
Add a little honey, maybe a squeeze of lime, and enjoy the warmth of herbal teas–for yourself and your loved ones!
Steep the herbs for about 10 minutes in boiled water. Cover the tea while it steeps to keep it hot! |

Trying to locate jamaica(hibiscus) tea.
Do you have it in stock? Santa Barbara, Ca.
Yes, I just spoke with our Santa Barbara store manager and we carry hibiscus tea in both loose bulk as well as in tea bags from Traditional Medicinals Teas and Buddah Teas in that location. Thanks for asking!
